Direct answer

In a law firm, AI saves time on preparing the file, not on legal reasoning: building a chronology from the documents, writing the first draft of a letter or agreement, finding a clause among hundreds of documents. The lawyer checks every quotation and reference; case-law research is still done in Swisslex or Weblaw.

Chronology of facts from the documents

The assistant reads the documents in a file (letters, contracts, minutes) and builds a dated chronology in which every event points to its source document. The associate checks it against the documents before using it in a brief.

What we measure — Time to prepare a chronology and the number of errors found on review.

First drafts of letters and agreements

Starting from the firm’s templates and the lawyer’s notes, the assistant writes a first draft: a formal notice, an agreement to adapt, a commercial lease. The lawyer reworks the substance; no draft leaves without review.

What we measure — How much of the first draft survives review, and drafting time per type of document.

Searching the firm’s own files

Finding the non-compete clause negotiated three years ago, or every document mentioning a supplier: the assistant searches the files it is given access to and shows where each passage is.

What we measure — Time to find a document or clause, and the share of relevant results.

Lawyers’ professional secrecy (art. 321 Swiss Criminal Code and art. 13 of the Lawyers Act) and the nFADP govern everything that goes into a tool. The tools we select make it possible to comply if the contract excludes training on your data, sub-processing and hosting location are documented, and only the files needed are uploaded. This must be checked before any use on a real file.

How much does it cost for an SME?

A half-day workshop on your own cases: from CHF 1,900 excl. VAT. To roll it out with your teams: a subscription from CHF 1,800/month (10 h), three months minimum, or a fixed-price engagement on quotation. Details are on the pricing page.

Do we need an AI manager?

No, not in an SME. What works: a contact point who validates usage, not a dedicated role.
